<First Year : Preliminary Courses>
First year students just graduated from high school are not only
newcomers to college life but are new starters in a long journey
into medicine. The aim of the first year curriculum is to offer
students the opportunitiy to experience the unrestrained academic
atmosphere of a university while enriching their thoughts and feelings.
For this purpose, other elective courses such as Humanities, Liberal
Arts, Social Sciences, Languages, Culture and History are also provided
by other parts of the university. These electives are offered to
help students see medicine from the outside and relate them to medicine.
Some of these electives are still offered throughout the second
year.
Students are required to study Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and
Computer Sciences which are prerequisite courses for the study of
medicine.

Introduction to Medicine aims to provide students with an introductory
perspective view on medicine. The course will help students understand
their mission as a physician, medical reality, aspects of various
fields of contemporary medicine, as well as probable changes of
medicine in the near future. The course also includes topics that
will invite questions, discussions and debates by students based
on knowledge learned from elective courses, namely philosophy, sociology,
history, etc.
