The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine has four faculty members who are actively involved in education and research. Their areas of research encompass 'Health Policy and Management', 'Health Promotion', and 'Epidemiology and Biotatistics'. The research and academic achievements of each faculty member can be found in the attached publication list. Associate Professor Myoung-Soon Lee's major area of research are health promotion and health professional education; Associate Professor Myung-Hee Shin has major research interests in the cancer and nutritional epidemiology; Assistant Professor Yoon Kim is actively involved in the research of such fields as emergency medical service system, community mental health and medical informatics.

The Department offers a number of educational courses which reflect our professors' research and teaching expertise. Collectively, these courses provide medical students a strong grounding in the epidemiology of diseases and social aspects of health care. The following courses are offered: Medical Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health Management, Environmental Medicine, Medical Law, and Community Medicine. Residency programs will be established in the near future.
