Education
Columbia University, USA. Ph.D. in molecular biology (1994)
Columbia University, USA. M.S. in molecular biology (1991)
Seoul National University, Korea. M.D. (1983)

Professional
1997 - present: Associate Professor, Professor, Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine
1995 - 1997: Assistant Professor, Seoul National University College of Medicine
1989 - 1994: Research Fellow, Columbia University, USA
1987 - 1989: Postdoctoral Associate, Whitehead Institute, MIT, USA

Research Interest:

1) Transcriptional regulation during hematopoietic cell differentiation
2) Pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukemia

Our team has been working on molecular mechanism of leukemic cell differentiation. We have recently shown that MEF2 transcription factor is required during HL60 promyelocytic cell differentiation and screened for differentially expressed genes during HL60 cell differentiation to monocytes. We are currently analyzed function of those genes in myelomonocytic cell differentiation and leukemogenesis
